The
Milwaukee Festival Brass returns to Wisconsin Lutheran College on May 12 for the grand
finale concert of its 2012-2013 season, “Queen for a Day.” This performance, being held on the annual
observance of Mothers Day, will pay tribute to the loving care of mothers
everywhere.
“What
better way to celebrate Mothers Day,” said Music Director Mark A. Taylor, “than
to bring Mom and the rest of the family to a concert of terrific music -- all in her honor!”
The
concert will highlight several soloists from among the members of the band,
including soprano cornettist David Magoon playing “The Queen of the Night’s
Aria” by Mozart; principal euphoniumist David Meyer performing Philip Sparke’s
“Fantasy for Euphonium;” and tenor hornist Robert Mason, a member of the
Milwaukee Festival Brass High School Apprentice Program, on a lovely
arrangement of “Over the Rainbow.”
Many
other special surprises await concertgoers, including regal brass fanfares from
the lobby, a band-accompanied video presentation, band member tributes to moms,
and more.
The
Milwaukee Festival Brass will present “Queen for a Day” on Sunday, May 12, 2013
at 3:00 p.m. at Schwan Concert Hall, Wisconsin Lutheran College, 8815 West
Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee, WI.
Tickets are $12, or $9 for seniors and students. Group rates are available. For more information, please visit the band’s
