An important concert coming up

The Milwaukee Festival Brass will be celebrating their 30th anniversary with a special concert on Sunday February 22nd at the Pius IX Performing Arts Center on 76th street just a few blocks north of I-94.  They are trying to reach anyone who has performed with the group over the last 30 years to not only attend the concert, but perform with the current MFB.

First, be sure to mark your calendar for  February 22nd.  It will be an excellent concert.  I'll post the concert preview next week.

Second, if you performed with the MFB or know someone who has, please contact the MFB via their web site.  It would  be great to have the stage filled with current and former members.

Concert Preview - Concord Chamber Orchestra

The Concord Chamber Orchestra presents Tapas, a concert of chamber music.  Music Director Jamin Hoffman has this preview.

Like the meal this concert is inspired by, the Tapas Concert is a sampling of different, smaller musical ensembles playing a variety of styles that together bring you a complete musical experience.

Sample the traditional music of Bach and Mozart. Hear the rich harmonies of romantic compositions. Feel the spicy syncopation of contemporary rhythms. With so many options, you are sure to be musically satisfied.

  • Six Bagatelles for Woodwind Quintet by Gyorgy Ligeti
  • Clarinet Quintet, mvt. 1 by W.A. Mozart
  • Chrysanthemums by Giacomo Puccini
  • Pavane pour une infante defunte by Maurice Ravel
  • Concerto for Oboe d'Amore by J.S. Bach
arranged for woodwind sextet arranged by Keith MacGaffey
  • Selections from Don Giovani by W.A. Mozart
arranged for woodwind octet by Josef Triebensee
