Shorewood Concert Band

The next concert by the Shorewood Concert Band is Thursday June 21 at 7 PM in Atwater Park, corner of Lake Drive and Capitol Drive.  Be sure to bring a chair or blanket.  And in case of rain, the concert will be cancelled...so let's hope that if it does rain, the rain comes after 8:30!

This season Music Director Dr. Patricia Backhaus has decided to play each of the movements of the First Suite in Eb by Gustav Holst at the first three concerts, and the complete suite at the last concert.  The concert on Saturday the 9th saw the band perform the third and final movement, the March.  This week, they perform the second movement, the Intermezzo.  Be sure to hear all of the movements at the first three concerts, and then come back to hear them in the order designated by the composer on July 19th.

Also on the program on June 21st is a gorgeous piece by Gabrieli:  Sonata pian'e forte,  Seaside Ballad by Jim Duff, and March for Moderns by Jared Spears.  And the concert would not be complete without a march by Sousa.  This week Dr. Pat presents the famous Washington Post.

It is always great fun at the Shorewood concerts.  See you at Atwater Park on Thursday the 21st!
