Happy Thanksgiving

As we give thanks for all we have, you may encounter musicians performing now or in the next few weeks, in malls or churches.  Be sure to enjoy their performances.  If you have a chance, thank them for their work.  Music helps us celebrate holidays as well as getting us through trying times.  Those performing the music deserve thanks for their efforts.  It makes life a little better!

Horns A Plenty Christmas

Every year, French Horn players get together to play Christmas music and celebrate the season while raising money for music scholarships.  In 2015, there will be two in southeastern Wisconsin.  On Saturday December 5, Horns A Plenty Christmas will perform at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center.  On Saturday December 19, the event occurs in Appleton at the Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

In both cases, there will be a rehearsal before the performance.  After a short break, the performance will occur.  To get all the details, see the Horns A Plenty Christmas web site.

Whether you play the horn or just enjoy hearing the sounds, attending Horns A Plenty Christmas events is great fun.

A special concert in the Fox Valley

If you are in the Oshkosh area, or don't mind the drive, there is a special concert coming up on Tuesday November 17.  The Oshkosh Horn Choir will perform in the Music Hall beginning at 7 PM.

If you have not heard a choir of French Horns, you are in for a treat.  The sound is rich, mellow, and bright, all at the same time.  It is truly a unique sound.

While I do not have details on the concert just yet, I do know that the arrangements to be presented are all from the same person, and will include classical as well as movie music.  It is sure to be a wonderful evening of music.  Definitely worth a trip to Oshkosh.

MMCCB Concert

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Concert Band will perform A Musical Tribute to the Season of Autumn on Saturday November 7 beginning at 3 PM.  The concert will be in Schwan Concert Hall on the campus of Wisconsin Lutheran College, 88th and Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee.

The MMCCB concerts are always fun, and are geared to include the younger kids.  These concerts are a great way to introduce young ones to the world of music, both classic and pops.  And admission is free!  Perfect for a family afternoon together.

See the MMCCB web site for more information.

Two concerts in one evening

I hate when this happens...two wonderful concerts on the same evening and I cannot attend both.

At 7:30 PM, the Menomonee Falls Symphony presents Rhythm:  The Heartbeat of Music in the Sussex Hamilton Fine Arts Center.  This will be a wonderful concert for children who have not been exposed to classical music.  They can sit on stage with the orchestra...what fun!

At 7 PM, the Concord Chamber Orchestra presents Child's Play, featuring violinist Julian Rhee performing the second Bach violin concerto.  The concert will be at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, across from Wauwatosa East High School.

The only way that the evening could be less than wonderful is if you miss both concerts!
